Isolation

Hiked Isolation on 6/24/2015. This was peak number 557 for “The Grid over 60”. I hiked with Bill and Diane  Schor, Charlie and Nancy Foote, Ed Hawkins (hiker.ed) and Larry Yetter. The weather forecast was for a perfect hiking day and it definitely was a perfect day, cool temps, bright sun and just enough wind to keep the bugs away. The trail was a little wet from rain in the previous days but I managed to keep my feet dry. We took the Engine Hill bushwack to avoid two of the 5 crossings of the Rocky Branch stream. This is a very open bushwack with good views over to the summit of Isolation.

After the bushwack we proceeded up to the fifth and final crossing of the Rocky Branch.

Then the final couple of wet miles up to the summit. It was perfectly clear with nice breezes and great views and even a visit from some grey jays.

We all had lunch on the summit. Diane brought some excellent brownies for everyone and Nancy brought some delicious fudge. I almost didn’t need my PBJ. We then started the long hike back to the parking lot. Only 19 peaks left to finish “The Grid over 60”.
