Whiteface and Passaconaway

Hiked Whiteface and Passaconaway on 11/22/14. These were peaks 529 and 530 for “The Grid over 60”. Went up Blueberry Ledge trail, I was a little worried as to what condition the ledges would be in but they had an inch or two of crusty snow and weren’t to difficult to climb up. Took my first break at the junction with the Blueberry Ledge Cutoff trail. The horizon looked like it was sunrise but it was really mid morning.

It took me a while to hike along the Rollins trail as there was quite a bit of ice to navigate around and some of it was hidden under the snow.

At the junction of the Dicey’s Mill trail I ate my PBJ and then headed up to the summit of Passaconaway. There were sections of the trail that were completely covered in ice.

I reached the summit of Passaconaway which doesn’t have any views but there are two viewpoints near the summit.

On my descent from Passaconaway I saw evidence of recent wildlife activity.
