Bondcliff, Bond, West Bond and Zealand

Hiked Bondcliff, Bond, West Bond and Zealand on 9/10/14. Peaks number 498, 499, 500 and 501 for “The Grid over 60”. Hiked these with Mike Lynch from Lincoln Woods to the Zealand trailhead. It was a beautiful clear day with cool temperatures to start, it got a little warm in the afternoon. It took us about 11 hours to complete the 19 mile hike, it would have been less time but we stopped and talked with 1 person for about a half hour. The views from Bondcliff were very clear. Also the first PBJ of the day there.

Bondcliff is also a good place for yoga poses if the wind isn’t blowing.

On the way over to Bond there was some alpine vegetation including some Bog Bilberry which turns a nice purple color in the fall.

Mike doesn’t really like the hike from Bondcliff to Bond, it’s steep and rough for quite a bit of the way, but he made it.

West Bond was peak number 500 for “The Grid over 60”, a good milestone to reach. It has great views of the whole Pemigewasset wilderness.

We continued on our way to Zealand which has no views but I did have my second PBJ of the day there. From Zealand it’s all downhill to the trailhead. We stopped at Zeacliff to look at the views.

We stopped at Zealand hut for a snack and water and then out to the trailhead. Only 75 peaks left to finish “The Grid over 60”.
