Eisenhower

Hiked Mt. Eisenhower on September 2, 2014. Peak number 495 for”The Grid over 60″. It was another humid day but I got an early start to avoid the heat. Hiked up the Edmands Path to the Eisenhower Loop trail to the summit. At 2.2 miles up the trail there is a stone gateway that was placed there by J. Rayner Edmands in the early 1900’s. It looks like it has fallen into some disrepair with a few new rocks added by others.

Views from the summit were hazy and occaisonally completely obscured by clouds. There was nice breeze to cool things off so I hung around for the brief openings when the clouds lifted.

There were a few flowers in blossom along the Edmands Path, primarily Golden Rod and Asters.

Almost back to the trailhead I saw what I’m quite sure was a Wood Frog. Normally these are found in or near vernal pools in the spring and then you don’t see them the rest of the year.

Only 81 peaks left to finish “The Grid over 60”.
