Mount Cabot

Hiked Mount Cabot on July 18, 2014. This was peak 479 for “The Grid over 60”. I combined this hike with some redlining of a new trail. I started on the Mill Brook trail which starts to the left of the fish hatchery office. It follows a gravel road for a little way and then turns sharp right at a sign which is partially hidden by branches.

The trail then takes a sharp left which is also partially hidden by branches, I almost lost the trail at this point. The trail is quite muddy in a few places but materials have been placed for some bog bridges to be built. At the junction with the Kilkenny Ridge trail I turned left and headed over to Unknown Pond where there were quite a few mosquitoes. Continuing along the Kilkenny Ridge trail I took the short spur trail to The Horn where there were some very good views in all directions.

Ate a sandwich (PBJ) at The Horn and then continued on over The Bulge and the viewless summit of Cabot. Stopped for a few minutes at the Boy Scout cabin and then headed down the Kilkenny Ridge trail to the Bunnell Notch trail and out to the parking area. I was fortunate that I got a ride from the parking area back the two miles to where I was parked. Only 97 left to finish “The Grid over 60”.
